Orava is one of the most visited and touristically developed regions of Slovakia. Although many associate it with winter tourism and sports, Orava is also an ideal destination outside of this season. A variety of cultural landmarks, hiking trails, and adrenaline attractions will satisfy even the most demanding travelers.

Accommodation at Kubínska Hoľa

At Kubínska Hoľa, you have several accommodation options available, including apartment houses, cottages, private accommodations, and hotels. It depends on the purpose of your visit and what you are looking for. If you want to relax during your vacation without daily tasks like shopping or cooking, choosing a hotel is an ideal option. We tried Hotel GREEN, which is located near the ski slope and is one of the highest-rated accommodations in the region.

Hotel GREEN

The biggest advantage of this hotel is undoubtedly its location – it is less than 200 meters from the ski resort, which has been open during the summer season since 2018 and offers numerous adrenaline attractions. It is also perfect for cycling enthusiasts, as there are plenty of interesting bike routes in the area. The hotel even has special facilities for storing bicycles, where you can wash or repair your bike. Another service for cyclists that impressed us was the overnight washing of cycling clothes. Thumbs up!

ROOMS

The hotel offers 66 beds and 14 extra beds, with various room types available – in addition to double and triple rooms, the hotel also has apartments, including a VIP apartment with two bedrooms, a living room with a dining table, and a kitchen. In addition to standard family rooms, there is also a wheelchair-accessible room. All rooms have their own bathroom with several towels, a TV, a telephone, a fridge, and a large wardrobe. Wi-Fi is also available, and to our surprise, it is very fast given the hotel’s mountain location.

We stayed in a spacious room on the top floor with its own balcony and a view of the main street. This room orientation also offers a view of the ski resort and the opportunity to watch a beautiful sunset over the Orava hills. We were most impressed by the generous space, as we are usually accustomed to less room in three-star hotels. In addition to the bed, we had a sofa and a chair, and there was also a table with a chair. This room costs 70 euros per night, which includes a buffet breakfast. Children up to 6 years old can stay for free without requiring an extra bed, and pets are allowed for an additional 8 euros per night.

RESTAURANT

The hotel restaurant is not one of the cheapest options you will find at Kubínska Hoľa, but we still encountered several visitors – probably not only guests but also tourists exploring the beauties of Kubínska Hoľa. The food is excellent, and the menu offers three appetizers, three soups, six meat dishes, as well as trout, pasta, grilled cheese, and three types of salads. There is also a children’s meal and two desserts. If you decide to stay at the hotel, we definitely recommend half board, which costs an additional 15 euros per person during peak season and 10 euros per person outside of the season.

Actually, we could! Right after opening the wine list, as the hotel offers Slovak wines that we like, such as Karpatská perla, Chowaniec & Krajčírovič, or Mrva & Stanko. The menu also includes world wines, but we prefer to support local production. Of course, in the restaurant, which slowly turns into a bar in the evening, you will find beer and other drinks. It is officially open until 10 PM, but if guests are there, they do not try to “forcefully” or discreetly kick anyone out.

WELLNESS

The wellness center is open from 3 PM to 9 PM, where you will find a relaxation room with a view of nature, a Finnish sauna, a steam sauna, an infrared sauna, cooling pools, and a hot tub. The entrance to wellness is paid separately – 8 euros for two hours for adults, and a euro less for children. External guests can also visit the wellness center, for them the price is 10 euros for an adult and 7 euros for a child. From April
