Cave of this type doesn´t occur anywhere in the surrounding.
Besides that, that it is one and only accessible cave in Orava, it is very unique also because of the form of the visit – the visit is adrenalin with difficult terrain full of steep stairways, ladders and fire bars. Lights are not located in the cave so mandatory equipment is a helmet with a headlamp. This way of access makes it much more environmentally friendly. If you ever want to try, how it is to be a caveman, now you have the unique opportunity. Because of its uniqueness, it is a mandatory stop by visiting the Orava.
Brestovska cave was created by the river Studeny potok and in the past, the whole cave was under water, but today was left in there only crystal clear underground river, which flows here all year long. In the cave live more bat species.
Because of the exposed terrain, solid shoes are more than suitable. The temperature in the cave is around 5°C, don´t forget to take warm clothes with you. The visit lasts approx. 50 minutes.
The cave is located right against the Museum of the village of Orava in Zuberec. If you combine a visit to the cave with the visit of open-air museum, you have guaranteed an exciting program for the whole day trip.
